Hansford Hospice Volunteers Meeting
Hansford Hospice Volunteers met on March 10, 2008, at Gruver State Bank, Gruver, Texas.
President, Verna Lee Shirley, presided over the meeting.
The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer, Pat Sutterfield, reported on Memorials.
Staci Ruga passed out cards she designed to be left in patient’s rooms when they are asleep that say a volunteer has been to visit.
Verna Lee Shirley, Jeanie Pearcy, Rosetta Barrera and Staci Ruga attended the Texas-New Mexico Hospice convention in Santa Fe. Dr. Garnett and Mrs. Garnett also attended the convention.
Staci Ruga and Jeanie Pearcy presented the program on the “The Eleventh Hour” from information presented at a conference at the recent Hospice convention in New Mexico.
It was reported that Hospice training classes will begin Thursday, March 13th, in the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Hospice is still signing up people who are interested in attending the classes. Anyone who is interested should call 659-5811. Approximately 10 to 12 people have indicated an interest in taking the classes.
Staci Ruga reported that the new padded folding chairs ordered by Hospice for the Hospice rooms are in but have not been unpacked.
Garland Hopper moved that a new special mattress specially designed for Hospice patients be ordered to be used in the Hospice rooms. Carolyn Hicks seconded the motion and it passed.
Karen Thompson will be the new Hospice program chairman.
Nelle Evans moved that Hospice Volunteers pay the $50.00 for Dr. Garnett to become a member of the Texas Hospice Palliative Care Association. Jo Linda Hutchison seconded the motion and it passed.
The Hospice Golf Tournament to raise funds for Hospice will be June 7th.
The meeting was adjourned.
