O’Loughlin Center Tenderloin Dinner & Calcutta
The O’Loughlin Center (502 S. Brand, Spearman) will hold their annual Tenderloin Dinner and Calcutta on Saturday, April 26th at 7 p.m. Tickets are $60 each and may be purchased from any board member, or by calling 659-3030. Marjorie Urban Memorial Scholarship
The Marjorie Urban Memorial Scholarship Committee is accepting applications for the 2008-2009 school year. The committee anticipates this to be a $1000 scholarship, funded at $500 per semester. The scholarship is limited to students majoring in music or religion, but not limited to 2008 graduates. Hansford Golf Scrambles Began March 25
The Hansford County Golf Course began their Tuesday evening scrambles on March 25th. The cost is $5 per person. Golf scrambles will be held each Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. As the days get longer, the beginning time will change accordingly.

Black Sunday
Black Sunday, April 14, 1935, Pampa, Texas. Where were you? Were you there? Do you know someone who lived through that day? Do you know someone who has pictures of the Dust Bowl days? Do you have any letters that told of those days? Pampa’s Tribute to Woody Guthrie Center will be commemorating the Dust Bowl Days on April 10, 11, 12 and 13 at the Woody Guthrie Center, located at 320 South Cuyler in Pampa. Children from Lamar Elementary will perform during the afternoon on Saturday, April 12th. Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp
Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by Invitation Only. Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include: Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Players from 50 states and 10 foreign countries attended the 2007 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the Al-American Team. Camp locations include: Commerce, TX, Prescott, AZ, Thousand Oaks, CA, Babson Park, FL, Gainesville, GA, Champaign, IL, Glassboro, NJ, Lebanon, TN and Blacksburg VA. Project Graduation
The parents of the Spearman High School Senior Class of 2008 will sponsor and host a “Project Graduation Party” following commencement exercises Friday May 23rd. To encourage the graduates to stay the entire night, door prizes are awarded throughout the evening. In addition, graduates can earn paper monies through their participation in various games so that prizes can be purchased. The graduation party will culminate with the distribution of grand prizes. Prizes, gift certificates, and cash are needed for the evening’s gifts. Perryton ISD Students Seeking Memories of World War II
Students in Perryton are seeking individuals to interview for the KACV WWII/Texas Panhandle Outreach Project. Participants who are eligible to be interviewed are those that have memories from 1938-1946, especially World War II Veterans. Gruver Elementary Collecting Register Tapes
Gruver Elementary is again participating in the Lowe’s Supermarket Register Tapes for Education program. Please help us earn free educational equipment by collecting register tapes from Lowe’s. Only tapes dated September 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008 are eligible. You can deposit your tapes in boxes in the Gruver Elementary Lobby, Gruver Library, Gruver City Hall, Nite & Day Beauty Salon and Hitchin’ Nails. You’re Never Alone - Narcotics Anonymous Group
Each year individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction make the resolution to quit using drugs. For many of them it is a resolution that they cannot keep. Narcotics Anonymous can help. Spearhead AA Group
The Spearhead AA Group meets every Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Pittman-Shieldknight building. Alcoholics Anonymous® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.
